How Can Aloe Vera Help Support Your Immune System?
Many people use aloe vera as a moisturizer and support skin health. Aloe can be used to soothe and support your skin after time out in the sun, when it is dry and flaky, or irritated, as well as to help nourish and moisturize skin at any time.
However, did you know it is also supports internal health? The article below describes how aloe is used, its nutritional values, and other essential health benefits, including supporting a strong immune system. The article will also go over any potential side effects from aloe and how it could affect you.
Where Does Aloe Come from?
Aloe is grown in tropical and subtropical regions of the world - essentially anywhere free of frost and freezes are suitable for outdoor growing. This includes the Southwestern US, the Caribbean, Mexico, much of Latin America, South and Southeast Asia, Australia, the Middle East and Africa. It can also be grown inside in a pot on the windowsill or in the front yard landscape of a desert garden.
Aloe vera is a member of the vast succulent family. This family of plants has intricate root systems, although shallow, which permit for absorbing water quickly. Plus, a succulent can store water for long periods, making them easy to care for plants. There are four parts to an aloe plant: the root system, and the stalk, the outer leaf/rind, and the inner gel/juice. The gel is what a lot of people are familiar with. The inner gel is a clear and largely odorless/tasteless liquid at the innermost section of the leaf.
The out leaf/rind consists of the plants defense and contains a sap/latex specific to Aloe Vera, called aloin. Aloin will seep from the leaf when the leaf is cut. The color of the Aloin latex is yellow and tastes bitter. If you’re ingesting aloe, you want to consume the inner gel/juice, which is free of aloin if processed correctly. The latex part of the plant has laxative properties and can cause some health issues, such as stomach cramping and diarrhea.
This is one of the key differentiators of AloeCure products, and our Juice in particular, is how we remove the aloin. Nearly all other Aloe Vera products on the market utilize charcoal filtration or added enzymes to help remove the aloin. While that might sound fine, it also strips a large amount of the other components naturally found in Aloe Vera during the process. When you see other Aloe Vera Juices that are clear or don't have any smell or taste, that is almost certainly a sign they have used one of these two methods. While the taste of Aloe Vera isn't for everyone, if you aren't tasting it, you probably aren't drinking what you think you are and if its bitter, you are drinking juice that still contains aloin.
At AloeCure, we have developed an entirely natural and proprietary process by which we remove all Aloin from our products without the addition of outside ingredients or enzymes or charcoal filtration. AloeCure process all of our aloe within 12 Hours of Harvest from our Organic plantations in order to ensure maximum preservation of nutrients found in wild Aloe Vera.
