Aloe Vera is a succulent plant species that originated in the Arabian Peninsula. Today, it grows wild in tropical climates around the world. However, its cultivation for cosmetic and health applications serves a global billion dollar botanical industry.
Cannabidiol, known as CBD, is a cannabinoid, one of over a hundred chemical compounds found in cannabis or hemp plants. CBD has found a market as a natural health supplement and is used as a natural remedy for numerous common ailments.
Unlike other cannabinoids in cannabis, such as tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), cannabidiol does not have psychoactive properties. However, CBD does offer therapeutic properties as a potential anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and anti-anxiety supplement. Studies suggest that CBD oil may help reduce chronic pain due to it impacting endocannabinoid receptor activity in humans which acts to reduce inflammation and interact with neurotransmitters. For applications, CBD is extracted from the cannabis plant and diluted with natural carrier oils such as that from hemp seed or coconut.
Most experts agree that evidence is inadequate to support most of the benefits hyped by CBD proponents. There is scientific evidence that it could be beneficial for the treatment of childhood epilepsy syndromes, however it has not officially been reviewed by, nor approved by, the Food and Drug Administration for that use. Other studies show it may lower inflammation, or act to inhibit the inflammatory and neuropathic pain associated with chronic pain. However, these results were not based on human trials but models derived from animal testing. More study and human trials are needed before proponent claims that a cure for inflammation and pain control by CBD applications can be substantiated. CBD should not be viewed as a medication, but as a health supplement.
What is key is finding a high quality product that gives full line of site into their ingredients and how they are grown and being processed. Always make sure Aloe is the first ingredient in any product you take. The key differentiator in AloeCure products, and our Juice in particular, is how we make our products. Nearly all other Aloe Vera products on the market utilize charcoal filtration or enzymes that they add to ground up Aloe Vera leaves to help remove the aloin (the bitter substance found in the outer rind of aloe plants). While that might sound fine, it also strips a large amount of the other components naturally found in Aloe Vera during the process. When you see Aloe Vera Juices that are clear as water or don't have any smell or taste, that is almost certainly a sign they have used one of these two methods. While the taste of Aloe Vera isn't for everyone, if you aren't tasting it, you probably aren't drinking what you think you are.
AloeCure process all of our aloe within 12 Hours of Harvest from our Organic plantations in order to ensure maximum preservation of nutrients found in wild Aloe Vera.
CBD may have a whole host of benefits for a variety of ailments and for supporting overall health, however most of these claims have not been rigorously tested to show that CBD is both safe and effective. Aloe Vera’s roll in supporting health and wellness have stood the test of time and are supported by both modern studies and thousands of years of use. The colorless, viscous gel found within the leaves of this succulent plant have more active ingredients than CBD. Aloe undergoes much less processing than CBD and can be consumed or applied in a form much closer to its native form than CBD, which is suspended in a medium (oil, sugar, etc). It is ultimately up to the consumer in terms of what their preference is. However, not surprisingly, we as an aloe company prefer to stick with a time tested natural supplement in it's natural state and wait for the proof to come out on CBD.
